STORM DISTRIBUTION – WHERE DID IT ALL BEGIN?

Storm Distribution started out as a small family run company, with only one sales person in March 2011.  We have very quickly grown to a team of dedicated core employees who all strive for one thing – giving the customer the best experience when purchasing a product sourced and distributed by Storm Distribution.

Gale Pacific, an Australian company, approached us to distribute Coolaroo’s range of shade products in South Africa. Gale Pacific pioneered the combination of monofilament and polymer tape technologies to create new, durable shade fabric that can withstand harsh weather conditions, block out the Uv rays but still allow cool breezes to pass through. They are largely considered the leaders in the manufacture of shade fabric, worldwide.  We were very impressed with the quality of the Coolaroo Shade Sails, Umbrellas and Pet beds, and felt that the product range could work well in South Africa, thus Storm Distribution was born.

Our core business still focuses around the Coolaroo brand and the amazing properties of the Coolaroo shade fabric, but we have expanded our product range extensively over the years.

Our Storm fencing now offers a full range of fencing, from the boundary and security fencing panels that allow a clear view to the small garden fences that are used to cordon off areas in your garden.

We have also partnered with Lechuza in Germany and now bring an extensive range of high quality, self-watering planters to the South African market. These planters are manufactured at their factory in Germany with the focus being on design, functionality, premium quality and environmental sustainability.

We have now also added the high quality Cellfast brand to our stable. This range of beautifully designed watering systems includes hosepipes, tap connectors, sprayers and more. Watering your garden has never been this much fun. The brand is manufactured in Poland, where they have a very impressive three factories.

As we have seen our product range grow, so we have seen our distribution channels expand. Not only are we distributing to Builders Warehouses around the country, but we also supply the Builders Express stores, Buco, Agrimark, Mega Micas, Kaap Agri, Chamberlains, Pupkewitz in Namibia and various other smaller nurseries and pet stores.

We have also expanded our online offering through online retailers such as Takealot, Yuppiechef and @Home.

Storm has partnered with DSV in terms of meeting our warehousing and delivery requirements to a growing number of retailers.

The company has expanded so quickly that in the last 7 years, we have had to move offices twice to accommodate a growing number of employees as well as additional warehouse space. Our head office is still based in Westlake Business Park in Cape Town, where we now have our own warehouse to service smaller stores and a showroom.
